Privacy Policy

Stands-Up is privacy-respecting by design. We collect only what's needed to coordinate your ride group. Your location is shared while you're on a ride, with that ride's group — and with anyone you deliberately give a live-ride or replay link to. Riding together means sharing the track you record on that ride with the people you rode it with, and seeing theirs. No background surveillance, no selling data, no advertising profiles.

What We Collect

Account info — your email address, and a display name if you set one. Sign-in is by emailed magic link: we never store passwords. You can use Stands-Up without an account at all — the app then identifies your phone with a random device identifier and nothing else.
Location data — GPS coordinates streamed in real-time during active rides only. We never track your location outside of a ride.
Ride data — routes, timestamps, group membership, ride summaries, and the GPS track of each ride you record. The track is what powers your ride history and replays, and on a ride with other people it is shared with them.
Subscription status — whether you have an active paid plan.
Crash reports and diagnostics — if the app crashes or misbehaves, technical diagnostic data goes to our error-reporting service (Sentry) so we can fix it. Feedback you choose to send from inside the app travels the same way, along with anything you attach to it.

How We Use It

Real-time location sharing — your position is shared with your ride group during active rides so everyone can stay coordinated.
Ride history and replays — your recorded rides, including their GPS tracks, let you look back on past rides and watch replays.
Riding together — everyone on a ride can see everyone else's track for that ride: while it's happening, and afterwards. That shared picture is what puts the group on the live map, and it's what makes a ride's replay worth watching — one rider's line on their own isn't a group ride. It doesn't expire, because a ride you rode together stays a ride you rode together. If you'd rather a track of yours didn't exist, you can remove it — see Your Rights below.
Keeping the app working — crash reports, diagnostics and the feedback you send are used to find and fix faults. Nothing else.

How Long We Keep It

Live position during a ride

Shared with your ride group in real time while the ride is active. When the ride ends — or you leave it — live sharing stops. The exception is a link you create yourself: if you share a live-ride link, anyone holding it can see that ride's positions, and the link keeps working after the ride ends until you delete the ride or your account.

Ride data, including GPS tracks

Your recorded rides — summaries and their GPS tracks — are kept so you can review your ride history and watch replays. There is no automatic expiry: keeping them is the point of the feature. The people you rode with can see your track for that ride, and you can see theirs — with no expiry on that either. Deleting your account deletes them all. If you share a replay link, anyone holding it can watch that replay until you delete the replay or your account.

Account data

Kept until you delete your account. When you delete, everything goes — profile, ride history, GPS tracks, replays, planned routes and group memberships. Messages you sent in a group chat usually stay in that group's history, with your name removed from them. Two things override that: if the group uses disappearing messages, your chat messages are deleted when their timer runs out, whether or not you deleted your account; and if you were that group's last linked member, the group and its whole history are deleted along with your account.

Using Stands-Up without an account

If you never create an account, what we hold is tied to your phone's random device identifier rather than to you. We're building an automatic clean-up that removes data for devices we haven't seen for 90 days; it isn't running yet, so until it is, email [email protected] and we'll remove it for you.

What We Don't Do

No background location tracking outside of active rides
No selling your data to third parties
No advertising profiles or behavioral tracking
No sharing your position outside your ride group unless you deliberately create a live-ride or replay link — nothing you record is public by default

Your Rights

You're in control of your data:

Delete your account — and all associated data — at any time, directly in the app: tap You, scroll to the bottom of the sheet, and choose Delete Account. If you can no longer access the app, email [email protected] from your account's email address and we'll delete it for you.
Remove your data from a ride — if you'd rather a track of yours didn't exist, take it back out: choose Remove My Data when you leave a ride, or delete the ride from your ride history afterwards. Either way the other riders' data is left untouched — but the two routes differ in when yours actually goes, so we say which is which:
- Remove My Data, on leaving a ride, erases your track, your photos and your place in that ride from our servers straight away. There is no recovery and no waiting period.
- Deleting a ride you created, from your ride history, moves it to the trash instead: it disappears from your history and from every other rider's view immediately, and it is permanently deleted from our servers 30 days later. The trash exists so that a deletion you regret is recoverable. If you want it gone sooner than that, open Trash in your ride history on this website and delete it permanently — that erasure is immediate.
Export your ride history — request a copy of your data in a portable format via [email protected].
GDPR compliant — we support the right to erasure, data portability, and consent-based location sharing. Location is only shared when you actively join a ride.
