Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How do I join a group ride?

First join the group: ask the organizer for their invite link, QR code, or 6-character invite code, then use "Join Group" on the Group tab. Invite codes expire (default 7 days) and can be regenerated by any group member, so ask for a fresh one if yours has stopped working. When someone in the group starts a ride, open the group and tap Join Ride. No subscription needed — the app is free to download and ride with any group.

How do I start my own group ride?

Create a group on the Group tab and invite your crew via QR code, share link, or invite code (6 characters, changes with a tap). Then start a ride: "Just Ride" on the Ride tab for a free-form ride, or plan waypoints on the Map tab for turn-by-turn navigation. Group members see the ride and join with one tap. Creating a group and starting or leading any group ride require Stands-Up Pro ($99.99/year or $9.99/month); your riders join for free.

Do I need Pro just to ride solo?

No. "Just Ride" solo (record your track, no group) is free. Turn-by-turn navigation is Pro because every guided session costs us against our maps provider — pick a route and start it, and the paywall appears if you're on the free tier.

What do I need to sign in?

Just your email address — no password, ever. Enter your email, we send you a sign-in link, and tapping Confirm signs you in. In the app you don't even need that to start: pick a display name and ride; link an email later when you want your rides backed up and on the web.

A group says "You need a new invite" — what does that mean?

You joined that group before you signed in, and the app couldn't carry your place in it over to your account. Your saved messages stay on your phone, but the group itself no longer knows you're in it — so anything you send won't reach the others. Ask anyone in the group for a fresh invite (QR code, link, or 6-character code) and tap the notice to enter it. Most of the time this is repaired automatically the moment you sign in and you never see the notice at all.

Location & Privacy

When does the app track my location?

Only during active rides you've joined. The app never tracks your location in the background outside of an active ride. Location sharing stops automatically when the ride ends.

Who can see my location?

Only members of your ride group can see your position during the active ride — plus anyone you deliberately give a live-ride link to. Once the ride ends, live sharing stops; a live-ride link you shared keeps working afterwards, showing that ride's recorded track to anyone holding it, until you delete the ride or your account. The ride's recorded track stays in your ride history so you can review it and watch replays — it is not deleted on a timer — and deleting your account deletes it. On a ride with other people, they can see your track for that ride and you can see theirs, afterwards as well as during it: that shared picture is the group map and the ride's replay. If you'd rather a track of yours didn't exist, remove it — Remove My Data when you leave a ride, or delete the ride from your ride history afterwards. Those two are not the same speed: Remove My Data erases your track, your photos and your place in that ride straight away, while deleting a ride you created moves it to the trash — gone from your history and from everyone else's view immediately, permanently deleted 30 days later — so that a deletion you regret is recoverable. To erase it sooner, delete it permanently from Trash in your ride history on this website.

My ride recorded no track and 0 km — what happened?

Almost always: location permission was off. Without it the app can't take a single GPS fix, so the ride has no track and no distance — and there's no way to recover it after the fact. The ride itself still runs, and chat and your group still work, which is why the app shows a warning the whole time location is off — "Location is off" on the Map tab before a ride, and "Not recording your ride" on both the Ride and Map tabs once one is running. Tap that warning to go straight to the setting, or turn location on for Stands-Up in your phone's Settings and start a new ride.

Does the app work without cell coverage?

Yes, for the riding that matters: planned routes are stored on your phone for offline use, your track keeps recording, and riders within Bluetooth range keep exchanging positions and status signals directly between bikes. Server features — live web viewing, chat delivery, sync — catch up when coverage returns.

Subscriptions & Billing

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, find Stands-Up, and tap Cancel Subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request one.

Account

How do I delete my account?

Delete your account directly in the app: tap You, scroll to the bottom of the sheet, choose Delete Account, and confirm. This permanently removes your profile, ride history, replays, planned routes, and group memberships, and disables any public share links. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in your store settings first (Apple: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; Google Play: Payments & subscriptions) — deleting the account doesn't cancel the subscription. If you can no longer access the app, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll delete it for you.
